Ireland To Release €2 Coin Marking Centenary year Of 1916 Easter Rising

A commemorative €2 coin will be released into circulation in Ireland this New Year. The coin marks the centenary year of the 1916 Easter Uprising. It depicts the statue of Hibernia, who is the historic personification of Ireland, on the roof of the General post Office in Dublin. This is the first time Ireland has issued its own commemorative coins. Previous €2 commemorative coins were issued in the country when it was part of the European Union initiative. The proof set and annual mint set will be available for purchase in January 2016.Latest News
